N/A Yes

N/A a. These inserts are designed primarily for installation into aluminum, magnesium and other nonferrous materials not exceeding a hardness of brinell 187 (3000kg load & 10mm ball). Use in corrosion resisting steels, titanium and hardened ferrous materials will normally require broaching serrations in counterbore to accept the insert knurls during swaging.
b. Use of HFS wrench and swaging tool is mandatory.
c.The slimsert is wrenched into parent material to depth shown with wrench.
d.Place swage tool in insert and apply a downward force sufficient to bottom the shoulder of tool against the parent material surface, which will affect full swageout and external lock setting.
Removal and reinstallation procedures:Using removal tool SRMW()R, as noted, C'bore to depth "M" dimension. Back out insert with drive wrench, clean out hole and install new insert.

N/A 1. Tolerances: 0.XX ± 0.13 (.XXX ± .005), 0.X ± 0.38 (.XX ± .015).
2. Roughness: Ra=3.2 Micrometers, except knurling.
3. Angular Tolerances: ±5°.
4. Dimensions in milimeters and (inches).
5. Thread dimensions and tolerances per FED-STD-H28/21
Internal Thread Tolerances: -4H6H ≤ MJ5x0.8; 4H5H for > MJ5x0.8
External Thread Tolerances: -4g.
6. Identification: 3 Grooves in internal thread denote a locking part.
Two parallel lines on bottom are manufacturer's identification.
7. For part number coding.
8. Metric ISO thread, Class -4H5H per FED-STD-H28/21
9. Minor diameter is increased by using oversize tap drill
10. Thread marks permissible.
11. Drill depth = Full thread depth MIN "N" +1 Pitch + Thread Runout.
12. Axis of hole shall be normal to entry surface, otherwise provide spotface when required.
13. Step drills are designated for thru hole drilling. When used to drill a blind hole, it may be necessary to grind the drill to suit depth required.
14. Swage operation required to achieve positive external lock.
15. Dimensions apply after plating & before the addition of solid film lube.

  • 1 INTERNAL THREAD TOLERANCES per FED-STD-H28/21: -4H6H ≤ MJ5x0.8
    4H5H for > MJ5x0.8
